Agios Nikolaos or Agios as the locals
call it, with 9.500 inhabitants, is the capital and the main port
of the Lassithi prefecture and one of the most popular tourist
destinations in Crete.
It is built around a lake, which is believed
to be the opening of a volcano, with a magnificent view to the
eastern mountains that reach Siteia and the eastern coast of the
island.
It is a rather quite area with an exquisite climate, cosmopolitan
resorts and fabulous beaches, while many of them have
been awarded with blue flags.
It also provides a panoramic view

Beach of Xirokambos: It is located close to
Agios Nikolaos and is believed to be one of the most beautiful beaches

and birds. The beach is astounding and perfectly organized for your
summer vacations
